I'm one of those people that goes through life with a sound-track playing in their head. In fact, I spend a lot of time in my head thinking about musical patterns and lyrics. A news head-line or the turn of a spoken phrase is all it takes sometimes to set the process in motion and my mind doesn't rest until I've written the lyrics down or recorded the melody and harmonies as faithfully as I've imagined.
My interests have spanned from musical theater, classical and Jazz to the American Top 40 pop charts. I'll admit that I probably spent a lot of time listening to Debussy as well as Van Halen as a kid. The songs that I’ve written pull from all of these musical genres and each song has a unique and special story behind them.
Some of these songs I've had the opportunity to perform as part of The Blue Stratum Band, for which I am the co-founder. A live band can be very forgiving, vocally, when there are amps involved and the audience has kicked back a few beers (I'm under no illusions that I'm going to win any American Idol titles). As such, I like to image who else might sing these songs.
It would be easy to keep adding songs to my every growing catalogue and never play them for anyone - safe from critical ears. However, so many of these songs are written about family, friends and events that have shaped me. I didn't want to get hit by a bus tomorrow - not letting others know how they have inspired me in some way, shape or form, so I made it my goal to record these using my digital audio work station.....which I'm still fiddling with.
Ultimately, my goal is to have these songs heard by as many as possible and eventually performed by those more capable. Until then, I'm sharing these songs with you. My only request is that if you like any of these songs - please SHARE them with others by selecting the 'Share' tool within each music track or the 'Share' tool within the Playlist page.
Enjoy!
